I always wanted to be super capable: able to drive anything, survive anything, do anything.

Sail an ocean crossing. Perform a helicopter hover-exit. Rescue a drowning swimmer. Defeat an armed attacker. Cook a three-course meal. Run an R&D project. Make someone feel heard. Teach a lecture. Renovate a house. Build a business.

It took thousands of hours and decades of practice to build these capabilities. All because I struggled to be vulnerable enough to ask for help.

The truth is this: you will never have enough skills or capabilities to make it alone, and the bigger the project the truer this becomes.

Don’t let your vision become a prisoner to your capabilities. Bring people in on it, collaborate with superstars, outsource your weaknesses, find people who care and give them a task.

If it really matters to you, let people in. Ask for help.
